February - Liver Clinic QE
Extracts from QE letter:
It was a pleasure to see you in clinic today and keeping so well. Your bloods previously showed a mild anicteric cholestasis and therefore you went on to have an MRCP. The MRCP demonstrates some fat within your liver and a short segment of narrowing at your biliary anastomosis. At present this does not need any intervention. Otherwise you are keeping well and we will see you in 3 months time.
It was lovely see Dr Ferguson again in more than a year and it was great to catch up. He showed me the images from the MRCP scan which was amazing. That was my body and internal organs. Technology has come so far in just a few years. I left clinic feeling in good spirits but also aware of the slight fat within my liver. No more cheese for me!
May 19th - My five year anniversary
I cannot believe it was five years ago I had my transplant. The days, weeks and months are flying by. My social life was starting to pick up and I am enjoying my driving for our local charity Link who take people to medical appointments. It's around this time that I meet up with a special group of friends who were there for me from the beginning and we go out to a restaurant and celebrate each year. I also meet up with my old work colleagues whom I still enjoy hearing all the gossip!
Eye clinics are still part of my life and it's always great to return to the hospital and catch up with the old consultants and new ones and of course, Rejoice is still there with her special smile.
June - QE Liver Transplant Patient Meeting
This is the second patient meeting at the QE for catching up with the people I met from the first meeting back in November 2024 and connecting with new ones. It's an opportunity for people like us, who have had transplants and would like to hear more information, or a caregiver and family of those about to start their own transplant journey. It consists of a talk from an consultant and this one was about fatigue, an guest speaker and many more interesting facts. A light lunch is provided by a small but growing group of volunteers who have all been through transplants and I decided to join them.
September - Liver Clinic QE
Extracts from QE letter:
It was lovely to see you in clinic - and that too without your walker!
From a liver perspective, you have a very short anastomotic bile duct stricture (narrowing in from the join between your new liver's bike duct and your original bile duct). However, there is no upstream dilatation/swelling, which together with a normal bilirubin value on blood tests and improvement in symptoms, means there is no indication for any procedures here.
I will repeat your bloods today and barring any surprises, will see you again six months from now.
Another great clinic with the wonderful Dr Trivedi
